Dia Art Foundation
Our launch date is fast approaching and were still compiling lists of things to see, people to meet, and places to explore. Last week I talked with Margo Sawyer, who Im taking sculpture with currently, about places she would recommend. Dia Beacon was her absolute first choice. Its quite a far ways from where we are staying, but she warned that a day trip is well worth it.
Dia Beacon has a collection of art from the 1960′s to present. With multiple ongoing exhibitions as well. The Exhibitions up will include
- Jean-Luc Moulène, Opus + One
- Circa 1971: Early Video & Film from the EAI Archive
- Imi Knoebel, 24 Colors—for Blinky, 1977
- Sol LeWitt, Drawing Series…
The Dia: Beacon is also the home of pieces by Richard Serra, Walter de Maria, Bruce Nauman, and Louise Bourgeois. This is definitely a place to see, explore, be inspired by, and learn from.
